Outreach at St. Luke's

St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Durham NC has always considered serving others to be an essential part of who we are as a church. In following Jesus' words and example, we find fellowship with each other and with those we serve. Our parish practices Outreach in two complementary ways: through direct, hands-on involvement of our members, and through financial support of selected programs and agencies both in Durham and throughout the world. Whether we are hammering nails at a Habitat house, making a casserole for the Soup Kitchen, or participating in one of our Outreach fundraisers, Outreach is an integral part of living our faith at St. Luke's. Read these stories and then come and join us as we "go in peace to love and serve the Lord."

Fall Fling and "Q"

My apologies for having no pictures of Friday, but we pick up this event at 6:15 am in the kitchen....
but this was one GREAT entrance...yummm!
Chop, chop, chop-many cleavers and alot of pork!
Meanwhile, Bill Sabiston begins the job of cleaning the grill.
Bob and Ginny Atwell ready for the Fling!!
A few directions, a prayer and open the doors...
and the crowds come!

Meanwhile, John's crew working away on the "Q".

Fresh arms-those cleavers get heavy!

Done!

The packers finishing up.

Our fearless leader is ready to go!

Cashiers during a lull.

Was about the only lull all morning!
and a well deserved rest for the 2 am shift!
Love those holes on the table!
Buck a Bag time..lots of clearing out now!
Sale is over and cleanup almost done.

and Bill doing the last of the cleanup.
Three loads to Salvation Army...and we're done!
What a great day!  Final totals will be in soon.
Thanks to the great teamwork of all!
