Outreach at St. Luke's

St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Durham NC has always considered serving others to be an essential part of who we are as a church. In following Jesus' words and example, we find fellowship with each other and with those we serve. Our parish practices Outreach in two complementary ways: through direct, hands-on involvement of our members, and through financial support of selected programs and agencies both in Durham and throughout the world. Whether we are hammering nails at a Habitat house, making a casserole for the Soup Kitchen, or participating in one of our Outreach fundraisers, Outreach is an integral part of living our faith at St. Luke's. Read these stories and then come and join us as we "go in peace to love and serve the Lord."

St. Luke's R&R - Moving Day!

Dear people of St. Luke’s,
Last weekend the Faith Team moved Chris into his new apartment. Several of us including Doug Marlowe and his father, Van Blalock and his son Matt, made a number of trips with trucks pulling trailers, transporting beds, a desk and desk chair , book case, sofa, futon, and chairs. Others came in cars filled with bedding, cleaning materials, a television, lamps kitchenware, a large rug and a microwave. Because of your generosity Chris is beginning a new chapter in his life with his own furnished apartment. All of us feel so thankful.

During the time period of asking for these donations, Chris married Chiquita, a longtime friend of his whom he had known since high school. She has a son, Donovan who is about five. So as of last weekend they were all able to be together for the first time. Again, thanks and much gratitude to all for your support.
